The Centre

Our 105-place centre in Elsternwick is a purpose built early learning facility that is designed to feel like home. With multiple outdoor areas with deck, sandpits, construction patch and outdoor kitchen and sun-lit internal spaces, the centre has a fresh and inviting environment. Our team of passionate educators and resource-rich environments will inspire you to excel in your pedagogical practice.

Your Role

As Group Leader and Educator, it is your role to work as a support and mentor to other team members in providing a safe and stimulating educational environment which meets the social, cultural, emotional, and educational needs of the children and families.

Your role is to encourage family and child participation in curriculum decision making and to generally assist in the day to day operations of the centre.

Your experience

You'll be an educator with a child lead pedagogy philosophy, your experience building relationships with parents and children will be key to your success in this role. 

As a Room Leader, you will work with other educators:

  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the centre community.
  • Lead a team of educators with focus on individual development and mentoring in the education, care, and supervision of each child at the centre.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Law and National Regulations
  • Actively contribute to the implementation and adoption of the Guardian Curriculum
  • Document children's learning and development.

We are looking for someone who meets most of the following criteria:

  • Completed Diploma in Children's Services along with sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework;
  • Experience working as a Room Leader in an Early Childhood Centre
  • Current First Aid Certificate/Asthma & Anaphylaxis certificates;
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and maintain a positive learning culture within the centre for children, for your families and for your Educator colleagues
